Tell him a positively manner to create a win and win situation,

If you have any valid reason like, family problem, or some heath issue its okey, and tell him that valid reason, other wise tell some thing like that,

Sir in 10th my maturity level was not so high , so at that time, i have running for marks thats why i have prepared only based on questions and answers no deep subject,

But as i grown u, i realized that concept is needed, so rather running after marks and mugging up questions and answers , i read concept wise, that’s why some sort problem arises and marks got reduced.

You can show your involvement in extra curricular activities. Join some NGO and work for them. Also become member of some club in your college and organise or plan events. This will also help you to get some points added in your resume and when asked about degradation of marks you can say that too much involvement in extra curricular is the reason.

I too was at your place few years back and it helped me. I was president of literary club of my college, student representative in final year and few member of NGO. All of this helped me a lot at personal level too.

If you had done some extra curricular activities or have participated in/arranged some events or were part of some committee, you can always tell the interviewers that apart from academics you were busy with these things. They might be impressed as you have already done some things which required management.

Your answer: I was more focused on extra curricular activities. Possible follow up questions: Does that mean you do not give importance to academics? Or are you no good at multi tasking?

Your answer: I was captain of the cricket team and was playing matches around the city and also in other cities, which meant I had to miss a lot of classes. Possible follow up questions: So why don't you pursue cricket as a career now? How many tournaments did you win for your team? if not many, was it worth it to give up on acads?

Your answer: I was not interested in engineering. I took it as most good students opt for science and then engineering and I had to follow the guidance of my parents. Possible follow up questions: That shows you are a follower, not a leader - why should we admit you? Are you also following societal norms to give a interview in this company?

"Back in school, I was bound only to my books. But here in college, I expanded my horizons, met new people, joined tech societies, organized events and found a new and better "ME". Obviously the better person in me came out by spending more time in other useful activities apart from just books."
