Prasar Bharati is a statutory autonomous body established under the Prasar Bharati Act and came into existence on 23.11.1997. It is the Public Service Broadcaster of the country. The objectives of public service broadcasting are achieved in terms of Prasar Bharati Act through All India Radio and Doordarshan, which earlier were working as media units under the Ministry of I&B and since the above said date became constituents of Prasar Bharati.

Eligibility Criteria:
Prasar Bharati Age Limit: Candidates age should be between 21 years to 45 years as on 30-06-2014. Age relaxation is applicable as per the Government rules and regulation.
Prasar Bharati Educational Qualifications: Candidates must possess the qualification of Graduate with English and Graduate conversant with the respective Indian language applied for as may be required for the job and having suitable voice to read bulletins. Candidates must also possess Typing Speed of 35 w.p.m. in English and must be familiar with Computer Applications.
Prasar Bharati Application Fee: General and other unreserved candidates are required to pay Rs. 300/- while SC/ ST and other candidates will have to pay Rs. 225/- as application fee.
Application fee should be paid in the form of Bank Draft drawn from any nationalised Bank in favour of Director General (News), AIR, New Delhi payable at New Delhi.
Prasar Bharati Selection Process: Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in written exam and audition/ voice test and interview.

Prasar Bharati (Hindi: प्रसार भारती); is India's largest public broadcaster. It is an autonomous body set up by an Act of Parliament and comprises Doordarshan television network and All India Radio which were earlier media units of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Prasar Bharati was established following a demand that government owned broadcasters in India should be given autonomy like those in many other countries. The Parliament of India passed an Act to grant this autonomy in 1990, but it was not enacted until September 15, 1997.
