The News is out about Gate 2015 Entrance Exam Pattern. So here is an update on what the pattern is going to be this year (2015). So gear up your studies and preparations students. So here is the paper pattern of the examination which the candidates can have a look with in order to prepare for the same.

Some Info on GATE :
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science. GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India.
The GATE score of a candidate reflects the relative performance level of a candidate. The score is used for admissions to various post-graduate programs (e.g. Master of Engineering, Master of Technology, Doctor of Philosophy) in Indian higher education institutes, with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other government agencies. Recently, GATE scores are also being used by several Indian public sector undertakings (i.e., government-owned companies) for recruiting graduate engineers in entry-level positions. Paper pattern for Gate 2015

The question papers for all the subjects will contain 65 questions carrying 100 marks, out of which 10 questions belonging to the General Aptitude (GA) section carry 15 marks.

The Papers with the codes AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT, PI, TF and XE will have the following pattern:
 Engineering Mathematics will carry around 15 per cent of the total marks.
General Aptitude section will carry 15 per cent of the total marks.
The remaining 70 per cent of the total marks is devoted to the subject of the paper.

And Papers with the codes AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH and XL, will have the following pattern:
 General Aptitude section will carry 15 per cent of the total marks
The remaining 85 per cent of the total marks is devoted to the subject of the paper

This GATE 2015 Entrance Exam will probably have 2 types of questions:
  • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
These MCQs which will carry 1 or 2 marks each in all papers and sections. These questions are objective in nature, will have a choice of four answers each, out of which the candidate has to mark the correct answers.

  • Numerical Answer Questions
Now these set of questions will carry 1 or 2 marks each in all papers and sections. For these questions the answer is a real number, to be entered by the candidate using the virtual keypad. This type of question will not have any choices for the candidate to choose from.

Start of application process for GATE 2015 Entrance Exams: 1 Sep 2014
Last date for submission of online application: 1 Oct 2014
Last date for request for change in the choice of examination city: 21 Nov 2014
Availability of admit card: 17 Dec 2014
GATE 2015 online examination: 31 Jan 2015 to 14 Feb 2015
Announcement of results: 12 March 2015
